The Field -- Early in the Day
It's a truly great venue -- the field slopes just enough downward that those in the back can get a clear view. without being steep; the ground is smooth and (mostly) firm underfoot, and the weather -- even when it rains -- is glorious at that time of year.
Rows of booths and tents selling food & drink, crafts, records/CDs, musical instruments and just about anything else one could desire run in broad arcs up both sides of the hill.
We were a bit concerned about a few flat flaky round brown objects observed here and there; those of us with country backgrounds theorised that, given rain, these little goodies might reconstitute themselves into, as it were, Instant Cowpat®, -- "Just Add Water!".
One year the word got 'round quickly to all of the Americans in the crowd that one particular booth was selling Actual Canned Iced Coca-Cola, as opposed to the usual heathen Brit practice of serving it room temp.
As we were far from the only Americans at the festival, that stand did a land-office business, but, sadly, ran out early Saturday afternoon with hours yet to go.
